Lotus Ride and Handling

I just happened to come across this a moment ago while browsing through some websites. Its the latest ad from Proton, have you guys seen it yet?

In my honest opinion, I think this is one of the better ads from Proton because it was done in a way to promote what is believed to be Proton's best asset in the car industry which is Lotus (ride and handling).

A certain part of the video really caught my attention actually. At 0:27, when the Persona is gonna overtake, notice that the car in front was a Toyota Passo (or Perodua Myvi in MAS) as well as a Toyota Altis. Well, Perodua and its Myvi is probably one of the biggest treat to Proton's share in the entry-level market so that probably explains the overtaking scene. Talking about sending a message to your customers and competitors eh?

But, I am not so sure when it comes to the Altis though cuz knowingly, the Altis is a much faster car with a 1.8 liter vvt-i engine fitted under the hood as to the 1.6 liter CamPro in the Persona. Probably cuz Toyota is the biggest player in the world market?

Finally, speaking of cars. I just got a call yesterday from my car dealer telling me that my car is ready for collection! :D

So I'd just need complete some documents and get a number plate, meaning I will MOST PROBABLY be getting me new car next weekend :)

Just finished work and I'm back home now looking forward to the weekend. I should be feeling happy right now but I'm not.

Thing is, I am actually having a really bad confidence crisis now which I have no idea of how should I go about it. Just this evening at work, my manager was asking me "Alex?! Why are you always doubting yourself?!" and I literally kept quite as I have no answer to that.

Its actually not a new thing for me either, I have been on zero-confidence for few years now?

Even when I had the confidence to step up just last weekend during a badminton match, I dissapointed my mates and lost what could have been some medals for the whole team.

Anyway, I just feel real bad now...

Bad Sporting Day?

What can I say... hmm... well, I just feel really bad and disappointed for myself right now.

Let me just explain from the top. Today was the sports carnival organized by the company for the whole Middle East sales office and we have been divided into four teams to compete in basketball, futsal, badminton as well as ping pong.

It was at a time when the team needed to get a crucial win in badminton over the nearest team to get at least a silver medal. What happened next was... I played, I sucked, and I lost which meant the team's final overall position was only 3rd placing. In other words, I also helped the team lost the silver medals.

Although we had won all the basketball matches, it still counted for nothing in the end...

I fucking hate losing...

My beloved racket :(

I also broke my badminton racket in the process so I'm just gonna stop playing for until god-knows-when. Its also sad because this was my very first racket which I used when I started taking badminton seriously during primary 5th. This racket was picked out by my coach and has a slightly longer frame which was actually useful 11 years ago when I had short hands and feets.

Anyway, no excuses here, it was all my fault. Sorry team...

The New Rules of Attraction

Just happened to be reading this interesting article...

When it comes to finding love, there are certain truths that seem so irrefutable that any single person would be a fool to not follow them. Maybe you’re a firm believer that you can tell within seconds if you’re attracted to someone. Or, maybe you adhere to the idea that a first kiss says it all: If you feel fireworks, your date’s a keeper; if it bombs, cut your losses. While these romantic maxims have their fans, experts insist that these laws no longer hold true in today’s dating world. In short, many rules single people follow need a little revamping. To that end, we’ve consulted authorities in the field to bring you the most up-to-date tactics for finding someone you’ll click with.

Old rule: You can tell if you’re truly attracted to someone in three seconds
New rule: You can’t tell if you’re truly attracted to someone until you’ve had three dates

“Love at first sight” is a familiar romantic notion. And in our increasingly fast-paced world, it’s darn convenient to think you can tell if you click with someone that quickly. But experts recommend cultivating a bit more patience, sticking to a three-date minimum to know for sure whether you’re a match (or not). The reason: People are a bundle of nerves on date #1, begin to unwind on date #2, but only by date #3 can people truly relax and maybe build some rapport. And while sparks early on are nice and all, they say nothing about someone’s long-term potential. “An important part of a compatible relationship is assuring that each partner’s values coincide, and to learn that takes time, discussion, observation, and interpersonal interaction, not an initial impression based on superficial cues,” says James C. Piers, Ph.D., professor and program director of social work, at Hope College in Holland, MI. So, don’t write someone off—or fall head over heels—until you’ve done due diligence.

Old rule: Your mate must meet all the criteria on your “must list”
New rule: A “must list” looks great on paper, but paper won’t keep you warm at night

You can check off the attributes you want—appearance, background, education, career, salary—but unless you’re building your lover in a lab, you’re missing out. Of course, you should have standards and not settle for a two-pack-a-day smoker who doesn’t want kids when you’re allergic to smoke and eager to start a family. But settling for nothing less than perfection is unrealistic. “Must lists are a classic recipe for unsuccessful dating,” says Fleming. “They’re too limiting and don’t allow for chemistry, which is more intangible and valuable.” Try to be flexible, especially when it comes to physical or material attributes like someone’s height, salary, or hair color. After all, just because someone’s 6’2”, blonde, or makes six figures doesn’t mean he or she will make you happy, so do yourself a favor and treat your ideal-mate wish list as just one factor in deciding who’s right for you.

Old rule: Opposites attract
New rule: Opposites distract

Dating your diametric opposite might mean the surprise of someone really new and different, lots of challenging banter and scintillating make-up sex —but sustaining a partnership with your polar opposite may ultimately prove unfulfilling. “The classic couple with nothing in common except their on-fire fights plays well in the movies, but in real life that attraction fizzles quickly,” says Alyssa Wodtke, co-author of Truth, Lies, and Online Dating: Secrets to Finding Romance on the Internet. “If you don’t like to do the same things, there will be nothing for you to do outside of the bedroom. And if you don’t want the same things for the future, what kind of future can you have?” We’re not saying you should end up with your clone, but ideally it should be someone who complements your personality (see the next rule for more details).

Old rule: Your date’s record collection (or DVD library, or bookshelf) mirrors yours—so you must be soul mates
New rule: You want a person, not an iPod playlist

Sometimes you meet someone and have so much in common, you know it must be love: Each of you saw Phish perform at least a dozen times and know the works of David Sedaris inside out. But don’t confuse mirror-image taste with chemistry. In fact, it’s probably better if your interests don’t match up exactly. Not only does that leave room for you to expand your boundaries and dabble in something new that your partner digs, it also means you two will probably have little trouble maintaining some healthy independence. “Some of the best relationships are those where both parties have completely independent hobbies and allow for the concept of ‘his, her, and our’ time,” notes relationship coach Hu Fleming, Ph.D. So, take it as a good sign if you spend the occasional Saturday night apart—you doing dips at ballroom dancing class, your date doing the wave at an NBA game.

Old rule: Your first kiss should be a toe-curling experience
New rule: Your first kiss is inconsequential

In fairytales, an amazing first kiss leads to happily ever after—no wonder we place such importance on that primary pucker! But there are ample reasons why a first kiss from a potentially great partner can go awry (nervousness or a less-than-ideal setting) and just as many to explain why a first kiss from Mr./Ms. Wrong can feel so right (you’ve exceeded the two-drink minimum, perhaps). “ A kiss can be a romantic, erotic experience with someone you find physically attractive, but a relationship will crumble without more complex attributes like shared values,” points out Piers. So rather than write someone off following a less-than-mind-blowing kiss, smile and move in slowly for smooch number two, either at that moment or on a subsequent date. Trust us, you owe it to yourselves.

Old rule: When it’s true love, you think about this person constantly
New rule: When it’s true love, thinking about this person makes you feel good

Hmm, has Willie Nelson’s “You’re Always on My Mind” become the theme song for how you feel about your sweetie? That may not be for the best. “Constantly thinking about another person isn’t love, it’s infatuation, and infatuation has no correlation with being a good match,” says Fleming. Ultimately, it’s a better gauge to assess the quality of your thoughts rather than the quantity. “If you have warm and comfortable feelings when you think about your date, that indicates a relationship built on stability, trust, and a strong ‘friendship’ factor, denoting a relationship that will more likely wear well over time,” says Piers. If, on the other hand, your relationship keeps you up all night as you analyze this person’s e-mails for hidden messages that reveal his or her true feelings, you may be chasing down someone who doesn’t really want to be yours.

Wheels

I have no idea why... but I'm just listening to some damn stupid mandarin emo songs... hmm...

Anyway...

We're just a week or so into the new year and there are just so many new stuff to look forward to. By new stuff I actually meant new cars to look forward to but hey, even if you're not really a car person, just having a scroll to look at these awesome machines could probably awaken your long unfounded interest in cars.

So here are actually some of the up and coming cars and concepts which I've found on the web...

Let me just start things off with some awesome machinery from Aston Martin.
Aston Martin One-77

This car is powered by a 7.3 liter V12 engine which produces more than 750HP. It could reach 100km/h in less than 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of more than 355km/h. What makes it even more special? 77 units of these will only be available.

Next up...
Volkswagen Scirocco R

When it comes to Volkswagen, the GTI comes to mind cuz it was a great car. But when the Scirocco came along, the stunning exterior just took my breathe away. I'm a great fan of sporty cars so this definitely made it to the top cars on my list.

When it comes to futuristic cars, how could you not mention Honda right?
Honda CR-Z

Right, so here's Honda concept, the CR-Z which is a hybrid and more importantly, it comes in a manual transmission. So are we looking at the first hybrid sports car? It has also been spotted doing test on the roads so I can assume that this car is VERY close to production.

Staying in the land of the rising sun...
Subaru Impreza R205

Subaru has been consistently plying its trade in the WRC (World Rally Championship) with its long standing Impreza. What you see above is the new range topping Impreza which has an engine tuned to churn out 320 PS at 6,400rpm and 431Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, mated to a 6-speed manual and an uncountable amount of upgrades and improvements. Impressive!

Moving over to Europe now...
Peugeot SR1 concept

Although only a concept, this car has actually quite a lot to say as it showcases Peugeots new design language for the next 5 years or so. This car has two combination of motors, a hybrid as well as an electric motor which produces 313HP. Now that's style and substance.

Don't forget the Americans...
Ford Focus

I'm actually a huge fan of the Ford Focus which is why the all new 3rd generation Ford Focus 5 door hatchback made it here. Here you have Ford's Kinetic design language which is always good to look at. This Focus features a 2.0 liter DI Ti-VCT engine (direct injection and dual VVT) mated to a 6-speed Powershift dual clutch transmission. Now I don't really know what that means, it just sounds awesome.

Finally, back to the land of the rising sun...
Lexus LFA

I'm saving the very best for the last here. This is the Lexus new supercar, which would most probably go neck to neck with Nissan's Skyline R35. This car not only looks impressive, in actual fact, it REALLY is an impressive car, hence, the supercar status. I'm not gonna go into the technical part of it but I am able to tell you that this car has a 4.8 liter V10 engine which churns out 552hp. This engine enables the LFA to hit 100km/h in 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 325km/h as well. Neways, check the video out...

I would definitely love to see the Lexus LFA go against a Nissan Skyline R35... hmmm... that would be awesome!

Pa... para... normal Acti...ti...vity...

This has somewhat been a thrilling 2 days for me. First, there were ups and downs for the whole of yesterday and then today, it was going to be a great day until I ended up feeling disturb walking out of the cinemas.

Yes, I'm about to recommend this movie. A movie deemed to be the "scariest movie of the year" or "the scariest movie of all-time".

To be honest, I did not really know what was I going to watch up until I was about to reach the cinema as my friends had already discussed and booked the tickets. So judging from the posters, I only had the idea that this is going to be a movie about this lovely couple. Little did I had in mind that I would end up coming out of the cinema feeling all shaken up. I'm not gonna spoil the movie here but I can say that the whole movie was just genuinely horrifying in a way it was produced and filmed. One which you should definitely check out.

... And yes, while in the cinema, do check out and pay attention to people's reaction in the cinema :P

Seriously, for someone who doesn't really believes in ghost, this movie really did disturbed and shaken my believes a little.

3.20am, late in the night...
... wait, shhhh... I just heard some door sound from upstairs...

Happenings...

Hmm... I'm awfully bored now without any thing to do on my PC which is the reason why I'm here to make a quick and short post. So like you see on the title, this post will be about some random happenings around me so far...

So here goes...

1. My Facebook account got hacked and I'm unable to retrieve it which is why I'm so bored now.

2. Just came back from work smelling like shisha.

3. Just saw his colleague got circumcised and walking weirdly around the office. His response was "I wanted to get a pornstar's penis"

4. People think I'm too tiny (Nope, not my p.... you know). Gonna start working out again... 50 push-ups a day!

5. Had time to admire a Bentley Continental GT, which you don't get to see often on the way back home. You will need over a million Ringgit to own one of this.

6. Gonna be poorer by RM300? by the end of the month. Got caught speeding on the highways.

7. Is rather active in Twitter due to Facebook's unavailability.

8. Still very much looking forward to getting his new car in 3 months time? Damn, its still sooo long away!!!

9. Thinking that its pretty much awesome to be able to be any character on the phone when you're talking to random people everyday.

10. Ohhh and... Johannesburg's female operators are soooo sweet and friendly!

11. This blog OFFICIALLY has a follower now. CHEERS!

12. Still likes this girl very much. And this is her favorite number so I'm making this the last number.

I guess that's all I'm gonna post. Gonna do my stuffs now. Good day everyone...!!!

2010

Well, first of all, I would like to wish a very happy new year to all the readers here. Its gonna be a fresh start in the new year again so work hard, try your best and may this be a very good year to look forward to.

Secondly, I'm still under the influence of alcohol so this will just be a "straight from the mind" kinda post. Funnily, while I was trying to sign into Facebook, instead of typing my email to login, I typed "happy..." (was going to type Happy New Year).

There are many things I would want to write here but to think of it again, most of it are just personal stuff so I would prefer to just keep it in. Anyway, I just hope 2010 will be a better year for not only me, but also everyone.

New year resolution? hmmm...

Start working out again...
Improve myself again...
Do more reading...
Work hard...
Drink more water...
Earn more money...
Get a girlfriend?...
Try to wear contact lenses...

hmmm....
