The Los Angeles Lakers are the new NBA Champions, beating off a resilient Orlando Magic team by 4-1 in a best of 7 series. This would also be the 15th NBA championship in the Lakers franchise history. (2 behind the team of the most championship won, the Boston Celtics at 17)
This would also be Laker's head coach Phil Jackson's 10th NBA championship which also makes him the head coach with the most championship in NBA record books. Such is the dominance of Phil Jackson in the NBA coaching landscape which now nears two decades, spanning the Michael Jordan-Shaquille O'neal-Kobe Bryant era.
As for Kobe Bryant, currently the best basketball player in the world (or all-time as some might argue), this was his 4th NBA championship ring and also winning the NBA Finals MVP award for his amazing all around effort. But most importantly, this was the first championship since Shaquille O'neal left the Lakers and during that point of time, many have asked the question as to whether Kobe could make it big without Shaq. And after failing in his last 2 attempts, one in 2004 to the Detroit Pistons and last year to the Boston Celtics, Kobe came back strongly again and not just by showing great determination but also great hunger to win the championship. And finally, the answer is there for all to see.
